WREX has been set up by the Welsh Former International Players Association. Its purpose is to provide fundraising events for the Welsh Former International Players Benevolent Fund. This is a recognised charity which provides help to former internationals after their rugby playing days in forms of medical help or even financial hardships. It has already helped quite a considerable number of players who have experienced ill health or rugby related injuries that would require medical assistance.
Our president is Mr Clive Rowlands OBE and is run by a committee comprising of a number of high profile ex internationals.
The events so far which have raised considerable monies is listed in our charity page. If you know of any ex international who may benefit from our help, we would appreciate you contacting us. There are many people and organisations that have generously supported us and hopefully this will continue in the future.
The WREX organization was initially responsible for the building of the International Players Bar in the Millennium Stadium. It was originally named WREX and was built by the wonderful sponsorship supplied by Diageo. The room is now efficiently run by the Welsh Rugby Union and is proving massively popular on International days.
